Does imCAD replace SOLIDWORKS?
No. imCAD is an assistant that works inside the SOLIDWORKS you already own. The result is a native SOLIDWORKS file you keep editing by hand as usual.
Which CAD software does imCAD work with?
Today imCAD works with SOLIDWORKS 2020 and later on Windows. AutoCAD, Blender and other CAD software will come in upcoming releases.
Do I need to buy an AI account?
For now imCAD uses your Claude or ChatGPT account. imCAD API is coming: buy credits and go, no separate AI account needed.
Are my design files sent anywhere?
Your SOLIDWORKS files stay on your computer. The conversation goes through the AI service you choose; logs and screenshots are only sent to imCAD when you report a problem yourself.
Will the AI change my model on its own?
No. imCAD shows the plan and a sketch for you to approve first. You choose the level of automation: approve each step, or let imCAD run once you trust it.
How do I install it?
A single installer, no admin rights needed. imCAD then updates itself when a new version is out. See the steps on the Download page.
