A good engineer does not just know SOLIDWORKS, they know how their company does things: how files are named, which materials are standard, which drawing standard applies. imCAD works the same way: beyond the AI's own abilities, imCAD models using a knowledge base organised in tiers.
Four tiers of knowledge
- Foundation: general modeling knowledge, available to every account.
- Standard workflows: common ways of working such as modeling from a sketch, from a description, from a STEP file, or creating drawings from a model.
- Modules: domain skill packs such as sheet metal or weldments, added when you need them.
- Enterprise: your company's own conventions, templates and drawing standards. Only accounts in your company can see them.
Higher tiers take priority
When two tiers cover the same thing, the higher tier wins: Enterprise > Modules > Standard workflows > Foundation. So if your company has its own naming convention, imCAD follows it instead of the general one.
Where the knowledge lives
The knowledge base lives on imCAD's servers and is fetched when needed, so updates take effect immediately without reinstalling the app. Enterprise-tier knowledge is only returned to accounts in that company.
Bringing your standards into imCAD
With the Enterprise plan, imCAD works with your engineering team to write your own knowledge: naming conventions, standard materials, templates, drawing standards. See the Enterprise page.
