Some jobs are not hard, just long: drawings for a whole folder of parts, STEP files for a supplier, rebuilding a part from a drawing while you are busy with something else. imCAD's Delegate mode is made for exactly these.
Delegate vs Live
- Live: imCAD works right in the SOLIDWORKS session you have open, and you watch each step.
- Delegate: imCAD opens its own background SOLIDWORKS and works there. The part you are designing in your own SOLIDWORKS is not touched.
Switch modes with the Live / Delegate toggle at the top of the app.
How to delegate a job
- Choose Delegate, type your request as usual, with a folder or files if needed.
- Approve the plan once (the default), then imCAD runs on its own.
- Carry on with your work. Progress shows on the Delegate page in the app.
- When it is done, the app notifies you. Finished parts are saved to
Documents\imCAD\Giao viec; click Open in SOLIDWORKS to open them in your session.
Create A3 PDF drawings for every part in the project folder, each with 3 standard views and 1 isometric view.
When imCAD needs to ask
If information is missing or a step needs your consent (such as overwriting a file on disk), the question appears on the task card with a notification, without blocking your screen. Answer it there and the job continues.
Several jobs at once
With enough RAM, imCAD runs a few jobs in parallel, each in its own background SOLIDWORKS; extra jobs wait in a queue. The number of parallel jobs is set in Settings, and the app suggests a value based on your computer.
When your AI account hits its limit
If your Claude or ChatGPT account hits its usage limit, the job goes back to the queue and resumes automatically once the limit resets. You do not have to start over.
